Scrabble Word Finder
Your rack, ranked by points.
This is the unscrambler with its priorities straight: results come back sorted by Scrabble score first, so the biggest play is always at the top. Type a blank tile as ? — it can stand for any letter but earns nothing.
Up to 12 letters. Type ? for a blank tile (max 2) — a blank can become any letter but scores 0.
How the scores are counted
Each word's score is the plain sum of its tile values — no board bonuses. Premium squares (double letter, triple word and friends) depend on where a word lands, so no finder can include them honestly; treat the number here as the word's base value and add your square bonuses on the board. The letter values are the standard English set:
| Points | Letters |
|---|---|
| 1 | A E I O U L N S T R |
| 2 | D G |
| 3 | B C M P |
| 4 | F H V W Y |
| 5 | K |
| 8 | J X |
| 10 | Q Z |
Using all seven rack tiles earns the famous 50-point bingo bonus, which is why long words in the results deserve a second look even when a short word scores a point or two more on tiles alone. The finder searches a 172,823-word list built from the public ENABLE lexicon; the current official tournament lists differ in a small number of entries, so in a rated game the referee's dictionary has the final word.
Playing the rack you have, not the one you want
The highest tile score is not always the best move. Dumping awkward letters (a lone V, a duplicated U) can be worth more over two turns than squeezing one extra point now. And before you settle, glance at the two-letter word list: a tiny parallel play alongside an existing word often out-scores a single long word, because every tile counts twice across two words.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the score include the 50-point bingo?
- No — scores shown are tile values only. If a result uses all seven of your tiles, add the 50-point bingo yourself; seven-letter results are exactly the ones where that matters most.
- How are blank tiles scored?
- A blank can become any letter but is always worth 0, matching the physical tile. If a word can be made with your real tiles, the finder prefers that reading automatically and scores the letter at full value.
- Is every word here legal in tournament Scrabble?
- Nearly all — the underlying list agrees with official lists on the overwhelming majority of words. A small number of entries differ between the public ENABLE lexicon and the current NASPA/Collins lists, so check unusual words before staking a challenge on them.
- Can I find words that hook onto a letter already on the board?
- Yes: just include that board letter in your letter input along with your rack. The results will all contain it somewhere; the main unscrambler adds starts-with and ends-with filters when you need the letter in an exact place.
